Principal's Report

Welcome to Term 3! I trust you all had a relaxing break.
We have hit the ground running with the athletic representative season, where we had our primary students attend the Central Downs carnival last week, and our secondary students competing at the Border District carnival this week. We also have students training in preparation for the next level of primary competition. Our students had a very successful day at Central Downs displaying determination and sportsmanship throughout the days of the competition. A huge congratulations to Will Visser who won the Peter Doherty Memorial Trophy for Outstanding Athlete of the Meet.
Eight of our secondary students attended the Border District competition this week with Blake Rees returning as Age Champion. Congratulations to Will, Zavier, Lochlan and Karleigh who placed in their events.
Parents and carers would have received their student’s report cards in Week 1 of this term. Reporting on student academic achievements occurs at the end of every semester and parents are welcomed to formal interviews regarding their child’s progress twice per year. We will be holding interviews on Monday 18 August. Bookings are to be completed by using this link https://eq.sobs.com.au/pt3/parent.php?schoolid=70484
If this date does not suit, please contact the office to make a time that does. Year 3 and 6 families would have received a different link as Mr and Mrs Turner will be away at the time of interviews.
School Opinion Survey
Thank you to all of those who have already completed the Parent/Caregiver Survey. If you have not had a chance to complete the survey yet, please note that the online surveys will remain open until Friday, 22 August 2025. This is your opportunity to provide feedback about what our school does well and how we can improve. To have your say, check your email for an invitation from the Department of Education titled School Opinion Survey for Parents and Caregivers, 2025. Can’t find your invitation? If your family has more than one parent/caregiver, check that they haven’t received the invitation and/or check your junk email folder.
This year our Student Council have decided to support the Pyjama Foundation by participating in Pyjama Day on Friday 1 August. This charity is dedicated to supporting children in foster care and the event encourages participants to wear their favourite pyjamas to school as a symbol of support for the comfort and care this organisation brings to kids in out of home care. With the money raised from National Pyjama Day, you’ll be helping the foundation to offer learning skills to more than 800 children, fund educational resources and help provide stable, positive relationships. Please follow the link to our fundraising page for donations: https://fundraise.thepyjamafoundation.com/fundraisers/AlloraSS
Kind regards
Megan

A Note from the Library
Book Club Issue 5 orders have now closed and will be processed and given to the students in due course. For future Book Club orders, you can order online by visiting scholastic.com.au/LOOP or hand the order into the school office. By purchasing books from Book Club, not only are you helping your student/s with reading, but also assisting our school library to obtain resources. Thank you to all who support this.
Book Week is fast approaching, being held from August 16 to 23 August this year. The theme for this year is “Book an Adventure!” To celebrate Book Week, we are having a dress up day on Thursday 21 August. Students are encouraged to come along dressed in theme or as their favourite book character. Parents, please remember something simple is often the best. We certainly do not expect you to go and buy an expensive costume.
There will be a parade in our Assembly Hall at 10:30 am on 21 August.
Have a great week.
