Principal's Report
This term is certainly flying by and I am unsure where the last 6 weeks went!
The winter temperatures are starting to kick in and the cool mornings have been refreshing. Please remind your children that the school maroon jumper or senior jersey for Year 10s are the only jumpers to be worn. We have many jumpers available at the school office for purchase and there are also many in the secondary and primary lost property.
Our school calendar for the next 4 weeks is very full and we will continue to ensure we are all working hard in the classrooms and consolidating our learning, ready for the assessment period. We are also preparing for the athletics carnivals and interschool sporting events such as primary Gala Days, Under 8’s Day and the secondary and primary Broncos Cup for rugby league and netball.
A huge thank you must go to our teachers who have been planning and participating in the most engaging of excursions. Our students have been to UniSQ for a come and try day and the STEM school challenge, Darling Downs Zoo and Cobb & Co Museum for the World Science Festival. There are also plans for an end of term trip to the Planetarium for two classes. This week, we had the Kindy students from Headstart Early Learning Centre visit the Prep classroom for a morning of craft and fun activities.
Last week Mr Nott secured tickets to the record-breaking Women’s State of Origin in Brisbane. Our 80 students and staff added to the 25, 000 in the stadium. It was a great experience for all! The game didn’t go the way most of us wanted it to, but the raspy voices on Friday showed we cheered our team on as best we could. The students were exceptionally well behaved and were complimented by those sitting around us.
Looking forward to seeing you all at the upcoming school events and sporting carnivals.

Students of the Week
Students were awarded certificates on assembly for demonstrating our school motto, “Always our Best”. Also, each week teachers nominate students who have displayed our school values to go into the draw for a $5 tuckshop voucher (the golden ticket). Congratulations students!
Tuckshop
Tuckshop will be held from the shed on the oval for both primary Gala Days and Interhouse Athletics Days, with a limited menu. There will be no pre-ordering of food on these days.
HELP!! As you can see from the roster below, we are very, very short on volunteers. Please consider volunteering some time to help out at the tuckshop.
We sincerely thank those who already volunteer their time and remind you to contact Serena with an SMS or phone call before school if you are unable to work on your rostered day. Thank you.

2024 Senior ATSIAP Challenge
We celebrate three Allora students who participated in the 2024 Darling Downs South West Regional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Aspiration Program (ATISAP) last term. Will, Rhyanna and Shakoba had to complete three collaborative challenges for the regional challenge including composing a poem, writing a persuasive text and producing an art piece.
The team of three worked together to complete the tasks in the Senior ATSIAP Challenge which included students from Years 10, 11 and 12 and Mrs Sharman is very proud of their efforts. Mrs Docherty described the competition standard as high and said the judging was tight . Our team earned third place for their poetry submission in the region finals. Unfortunately, they did not qualify for the State ATSIAP finals that will be held in Brisbane at the end of this term. The three winning teams for the region were Toowoomba SHS, Charleville SHS and Wilsonton SHS.
Last week, we welcomed Mrs Natalie Docherty, First Nations Partnerships and Programs Darling Downs South West Region Officer, to present Will, Rhyanna and Shakoba with their ATSIAP DDSW Participation Certificates and third place certificates for the Poetry Challenge.
We congratulate Will, Rhyanna and Shakoba for their achievement knowing that they have certainly upheld the school motto, Always our Best. We also thank Mrs Docherty for coming to assembly to present the awards and for her ongoing support of our First Nation students.
A Note from the Library
A big congratulations to our students who received their Bronze Reading Rockstar certificate on parade Monday morning. There were many students who proudly displayed their certificate, with this award achieved by simply borrowing from our school library. Well done, students!
Book Fair has now finished for 2024 and I would personally like to thank everyone who supported our fair. This helps the library receive new books for our students to borrow.
REMINDER: Keep bringing your library books back each week when it is your class’s turn to borrow. If you do not have a library bag and would like one, please see Mrs Weier.
Students have also been enjoying playing chess or checkers in the library at lunchtime. It’s wonderful to see the older students helping the younger students learn the rules of the game.
Thanks and have a wonderful week.
