Principal's Report

The winter temperatures are starting to kick in and the cool mornings have been refreshing. Please remind your children that the school maroon jumper or senior jersey for Year 10s are the only jumpers to be worn. Navy track pants are also acceptable in the cooler months. We have many jumpers available at the school office for purchase and there are also many in the secondary and primary lost property.
Our school calendar for the next 4 weeks is very full and we will continue to ensure we are all working hard in the classrooms and consolidating our learning ready for the assessment period. We are also preparing for the upcoming athletics carnivals. Over the past fortnight we have had students representing us at interschool sporting events such as primary Gala Days and the secondary and primary Broncos Cup for Rugby League and Netball. Not to be ones to miss out, our Prep to Year 2 classes will be on an excursion to Clifton State School for Under 8s Day on Friday.
Our 2026 Prep students and families will be welcomed to the school for an information session on Tuesday 3rd June at 6pm. If you know of any Prep aged students for 2026, please share this information with their families. We look forward to sharing all the ways our school ensures each child enjoys a strong start at school.
Kind regards
Megan

Containers for Catering
We are in desperate need of containers to use in the Catering Kitchen. Icecream containers or large plastic containers with lids would be great. If you can help out, please drop the containers in to the school office. Thank you.
Desk for Sale
Are you looking for a new office desk? The desk pictured below is in good condition and available for $200. If you wish to purchase this desk, please call in to the school office. It has been disassembled, ready for transport.

A Note from the Library
The school recently celebrated Book Fair in our library. Thank you to everyone who supported our fair. It was very successful and enables us to purchase new books for your students to read.
Last Wednesday we celebrated National Simultaneous Storytime. This year’s story was called “The Truck Cat” and classes were able to read the book, along with thousands of other people around Australia, at exactly the same time. I wonder what the book will be for next year?
Many thanks must also go out to the Toowoomba Women’s Shed who have generously made some new library bags for our school. They are amazing and I am sure they will come in handy in the future.
Library borrowing continues as normal. It is wonderful to see so many students borrowing from our school library.
Did you know that reading to your child every single day improves their literacy skills?
Remember students can access the SORA website with their student details to access any books and magazines they may like to read.

Sports Report
Congratulations to Graysen who was selected in the Southern Downs Soccer team to attend the Darling Downs Trials.
On Thursday 15 May, Bailey and Ruby attended the Southern Downs Touch Trials in Warwick. Congratulations girls on your efforts, with Bailey being selected in the Southern Downs Team to attend the Darling Downs Trials on 10 June. Best wishes, Bailey.
Chelsea, Graysen, Bailey and Ruby attended the Southern Downs Cross Country Trials in Warwick on 9 May. From these trials, Ruby was selected to compete as part of the Southern Downs team at the Darling Downs Cross Country Trials. Her goal was to place in the top 15, and she did! Well done, Ruby.
Congratulations to our five students who attended the Clifton Benchrest Shooting Competition on 16 May. The students enjoyed their day out.
Broncos Cup – Congratulations to our secondary rugby league and netball teams on their effort, performance and behaviour at the Broncos competition, held in Goondiwindi on 21 May.
In netball, the girls played amazingly. They held their own even against the larger high schools and looked great in their new netball dresses. The B-Grade team won 4 out of 5 games and the C-Grade team won 1 out of 5. All girls are to be commended on their effort, sportsmanship and teamwork they displayed on the day. Sandy from Netball Queensland completed a training workshop with the girls last week, to help improve our skills.
Our B-Grade boys won 3 from 3 and our A-Grade boys won 1, drew 1 and lost 1.
We wish the teams all the best today at the finals in Warwick. Thank you to Amber and Jack for all their hard work in coaching the teams.
Our final Gala Day is tomorrow. If you can help out at tuckshop at some stage throughout the day, that would be great.
Reminder: Interhouse Track and Field Carnival will be held on Thursday 19 and Friday 20 June (Week 9). Tuckshop will operate from the oval on these days. The 1500m and 3000m events will be held prior to the carnival. Students 9 years and over will participate in events on both days, while students under 9 years of age will participate on Friday. Records (in event order) can be found on our website.

Tradie Disco was a Success
Thank you to all who attended the disco and to those who assisted with supervising. By all accounts, everyone had a great time!
