Principal's Report

Term 3 is quickly coming to an end with many events still to occur on the school calendar to get us to our well-deserved Spring holidays!
This Friday 12September, our Year 3-6 students will be travelling to the Central Downs Ball Games and Sports Expo at the Clifton Recreation Grounds. The cost of bus transportation will be covered by the school to ensure our students are able to participate.
Last week, the Department celebrated and recognised all teacher aides through Teacher Aide Appreciation Week. Teacher aides support our students’ learning, assist our school staff to keep classrooms running smoothly and are appreciated for the valuable contribution they make to the school community. I am sure you all join me in giving a huge thank you to our wonderful teacher aides. We are very lucky to have you!
Today at second break, our students enjoyed an R U OK? dance party in the undercover area. What great fun students and staff had! I thoroughly enjoyed being the DJ.
Our next P&C meeting will be held on Wednesday 17 September at 4pm in the staffroom. It would be great to see more parents and community members in attendance. We welcome Helen Needham as our secretary for the remainder of the 2025 school year.
Kind regards
Megan
Introducing our new Guidance Officer

Who has short hair, glasses, is a little bit quirky and is new to your school community? Your new Guidance Officer: Miss Brooke Wilson!
I have worked at several schools in the Warwick and Granite Belt clusters over more than a decade in a variety of roles and I am excited to join the Allora State School community. I will be at school each Thursday and Friday in Term 4. Guidance Officers contribute to support programs in schools, provide advice and counselling on a range of educational, behavioural, vocational, personal, social, family and wellbeing issues. We provide support in complex circumstances, conduct a range of assessments and support staff in how best to support students' wellbeing. I look forward to getting to know more staff and students after a warm welcome in Week 7 and getting to see the fantastic school spirit on assembly.
R U OK day is recognised today, Thursday 11 September and our school community has worn yellow to mark the occasion. R U OK day aims to empower people to meaningfully connect with others and lend support when struggling with the rollercoaster of life. Everyone has the capacity to be a help-giver to people through conversation and connection, with the simple prompt “Are you okay?”.
These four simple steps could make a world of difference to someone struggling or in distress.
- Asking R U OK
- Listening
- Encouraging action
- Checking in
Make a connection, ask R U OK? Any day.

Benefits of using QParents
Don't have QParents Yet - come in to the school on a Tuesday and see Brooke. She will help you with login details etc and how to use the QParents App to your advantage.
QParents provides parents with 24/7 online access to:
- receiving and responding to consent requests and automated reminders
- receiving and paying invoices
- viewing attendance records and providing absentee notifications
- academic reporting data
- timetables
- assessment planners
- limited behaviour records
- schedules of upcoming events
- announcement feature
This access enables parents to communicate with their school and complete school-related administrative tasks quickly and easily. It also assists schools by streamlining administrative processes and reducing the volume of parent information requests, resulting in significant efficiencies.

The Resilience Project

RYDA Program
RYDA stands for Rotary Youth Driver Awareness, though it is now primarily used as a program name by Road Safety Education Limited (RSE), a non-profit organisation that delivers interactive road safety workshops to high school students in Australia and New Zealand. The program aims to equip young, upcoming drivers and passengers with practical skills and attitudes to reduce road deaths and injuries by teaching them to be responsible road users.
On Tuesday 26 August, our Yr 10s attended the RYDA WORKSHOP at Warwick SHS. The students were exposed to various information sessions and safety demonstrations in relation to being the driver and a passenger in a car. Some of the areas discussed were car maintenance, particularly tyres and their importance. The other big focus was how to use all the safety features in newer cars to help be a better driver. They also focused on how to be a good passenger, not cause distraction to the car driver and to be aware of helping the driver not to become distracted as well. The students heard from Warwick QPS District Highway Patrol Offices, a lady involved with the Forensic Crash Unit, a lady survivor of a crash that involved a roll over and several people dying and another woman who received a brain injury and permanent spinal and leg injuries. As lots of students now have their LEARNERS LICENCE, the students also got to ask questions about the laws that they were not clear about in relation to being a driver. The topic of HANDS-FREE phones in older cars and how the laws relate to these was one question in particular, students wanted answers to.

A Note from the Library

ALL LIBRARY BOOKS DUE BACK NOW. Please return them to the library before the holidays.
Thank you to our students and staff who continue to borrow from our school library. It has been an amazing term and our Book Week dress up day was wonderful.
Book Club has been very well supported this term and pamphlets will continue to be distributed in Term 4.
All library books are now due back to our school library. The holidays are a perfect opportunity to look for books that are missing. Library books are very good at hiding in the most unusual places such as in cars, under beds and in toy boxes.
Have a wonderful Spring vacation.
