From the Principal
Term 3 is quickly coming to an end with many events still to occur on the school calendar to get us to our well-deserved spring holidays!
Book Week was a wonderful celebration of the joys of reading and all of our favourite book characters. We welcomed special guests with children, staff and parents from C&K and Headstart kindergartens joining us for the morning. Thank you to everyone who dressed up for this event and a very special thank you to Mrs Weier for the whole week of fun activities in the library and to Ms Wilson for helping us to find the green sheep.
This term our talented students and staff have been preparing for the Allora Arts Extravaganza and are eagerly counting down the days to their performances. We look forward to welcoming residents from The Homestead to our matinee performance on Thursday 7 September and our parents and community to the main event on Friday 8 September with doors opening at 5:30pm. I am sure you will all join me in thanking the staff and students for their dedication to practising and preparing for this event. I look forward to seeing you all on the night.
This Friday 8 September, our Year 3-6 students will be travelling to the Central Downs Ball Games carnival at the Clifton Recreation Grounds. All students must return permission slips as soon as possible. The costs of bus transportation will be covered by the school to ensure all students are able to participate.
A huge congratulations to the Wattles Under 13, 15 and 17 teams who competed in the Warwick and District Rugby League Grand Final last Saturday. A big congratulations to the Under 13 team who went through the season undefeated to bring home the premiership.
I would also like to congratulate our netball girls who competed in their Grand Finals last weekend. There were mixed results for all our students with the general consensus being that all games were tough and very competitive!
Our sporting best wishes also are extended to Claire Eckersley as she joins the South West Queensland Futsal Team at the National Championships these school holidays.
Last week was Teacher Aide Appreciation Week and I set the challenge to the students to thank a teacher aide who has helped them. Teacher aides support our students' learning, assist our school staff to keep classrooms running smoothly and are unassuming of the valuable contribution they make to the school community. I am sure you all join me in giving a huge thank you to our wonderful teacher aides, we are very lucky to have you!

A Note from the Library
What a great week we had with Book Week celebrations. Thanks to all who participated. There were so many happy, smiling faces around our school on dress up day and our parade was outstanding. Congratulations to the students who won our dress up day competition. Their names were drawn out of a box on parade and they get to order something from the current Book Club. A big thank you to Headstart and the local C&K kindergarten who came to our school to participate as well.
On Tuesday 22 August, we were fortunate to have some lovely Year 9 girls come to read a prize-winning story to our students. Classes continued to come to our library for borrowing and there were many enthusiastic students trying to find our green sheep. Congratulations to our winners from Prep to Year 7 who were fortunate to find it somewhere in our Library.
We also had a raffle for students who wanted to win their own green sheep. This lucky student was Charlie from Year 6 - congratulations Charlie. A big thank you goes out to one of our wonderful teacher aides, Ms Michelle Wilson, who kindly crocheted the two green sheep – one for our school library and one as a prize.
Have a great week.

Tuckshop - Helpers Wanted
We continue to be very short on volunteers in our tuckshop. If you are able to help out, even once a month, we would really appreciate it. Please contact Serena at the tuckshop (ph 4666 7222) on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday if you are able to assist in any way.
We thank those who already volunteer their time at Tuckshop. Remember to contact Serena with an SMS or phone call before school if you are unable to work on your rostered day. Thank you.

Student of the Week
Well done to our Students of the Week, demonstrating our school motto "Always our Best". Congratulations students!
Sports Report
The Darling Downs Track & Field Championships were held in Toowoomba in August. These championships were for both primary and secondary aged students. A number of Allora students competed at these trials - Ellie, Isaac, Lloyd, Lance, Blake, Milo, Lucy, Lochlan, Jackson and Zavier. There were many great results and final finishes from the event. Congratulations on all your time and effort this Athletics Season.
Notable mention must go to Ellie who was named the Most Outstanding Girl Athlete of the Meet and was awarded the “Val Grainger Trophy”. Ellie placed 1st in her 200m event, 80m sprint and long jump. A wonderful achievement, congratulations Ellie.
Lucy placed 3rd in discus and threw a qualifying distance to be selected in the Darling Downs Team. She will now compete at the State Track and Field Carnival in October. Best wishes Lucy.
